BMW E30: Should you buy now?

I have been looking at purchasing an old BMW for some time now, specifically the E30. Although I go through periods of lusting after the E36 and E46. Prices of the E30 havr steadily been on the rise but the running costs are what’s stopping me from pulling the trigger. The biggest of these is the insurance premium at more than £3,000 (that is more than the car is worth)

The car in question: BMW E30 316i Auto

At first buying one wasn’t possible due to the factors highlighted above, so I looked at is as a business decision. By that i mean buying one, make a few improvements mechanically and flip it for a small profit during summer. However, the problem with this idea was the insurance and tax for 6 months worth of ownership would wipe out and profit id make at the end of it. But getting in and out of a classic car you love and breaking even still makes sense right? I’m still trying to convince myself this is true.
